Hey there! My name is Pujan Dhakal, and I completed my studies up to grade 10 in my village. Today, I want to share with you why it's important to change your surroundings to truly discover yourself. If you feel like you're good at something or have a nice appearance, but you're not getting the recognition or attention you deserve, then you should definitely read this! And even if these thoughts haven't crossed your mind, it's still worth reading because you can learn something valuable about life.
On my first day at the hostel, I met two guys who would later become my close friends in college. They jokingly asked me if I had a girlfriend, and at first, I thought they were just kidding around. I replied, wondering why I would have a girlfriend. To my surprise, they said, "Why not? You're good-looking, handsome, and tall!" I brushed it off, thinking they were just messing with me.
But fate had something more in store for me. During a college orientation, I sat next to a person named Sakshyam. Out of the blue, he asked me if I had come to Kathmandu with dreams of becoming an actor. Thinking he was also joking, I asked why he thought so. To my amazement, he went on to describe how perfect my hair, eyes, lips, and body were. I was left speechless, unable to express the mix of emotions I felt. Sadly, that was the last time we had such a conversation throughout our college years. Nevertheless, his words left a deep impact on me, and I was truly amazed by his compliments.
This story isn't just about me trying to praise myself or boast about being handsome. What I want to convey is that if I hadn't left my village and my comfort zone, where people treated me normally, and ventured into a completely new city, I would never have realized how beautiful and handsome I am. The lesson you can learn from my short life story is that if your friends and peers don't appreciate you for who you are, then you're in the wrong place. It's essential to change your environment to discover your true appearance and find people who will cheer you on.
And for those who say looks don't matter, I encourage you to change your perspective. Having good looks boosts your confidence, and as they say, "Compliment boosts Confidence" in today's competitive world. Compliments can come in any form, not just based on physical appearance.
So, I invite you to join me on this journey of self-discovery. Break free from your familiar surroundings, explore new territories, and uncover the real you. Change is the key to personal growth and a more fulfilling life.
